Medot Brut 48 Magnum Reserve Selection: elegance shaped by time

In the world of sparkling wines, time plays a special role. Not merely as part of the process, but as an element that shapes a wine’s character, depth, and elegance. It is from this very idea that Medot Brut 48 Magnum Reserve Selection was born — a special interpretation of our Brut 48, rooted in the same philosophy, yet given even more time to evolve.
Why magnum?
A magnum bottle (1.5 liters) naturally offers a different aging dynamic. The larger volume allows for slower, more gradual maturation, resulting in a more balanced and complex wine.
We have already explored why magnums are considered the choice of celebrators and connoisseurs in a dedicated article.
It is precisely because of this potential that we decided to let some of our magnums mature longer.

From idea to special release
Medot Brut 48 Magnum Reserve Selection represents a selection of magnums matured longer on the lees.
While our classic Brut 48 Magnum matures for approximately five years, we took a step further with this special edition. The latest limited release of 350 bottles, bottled in 2018, was matured for a full six years.
The difference is clear: more time, more depth, more expression.
What does extended maturation bring?
Magnum bottles already have great potential for further maturation. With additional time, this potential becomes even more pronounced.
With extended maturation:
- the structure becomes rounder
- the bubbles finer and more integrated
- the aromatic profile deeper and more complex.

Classic vs. special edition
The differences between the two styles are best revealed in the glass.
Medot Brut 48 Magnum (classic edition)
On the nose, it is distinctly fruity and vibrant. Citrus notes of fresh orange and lemongrass come to the forefront, complemented by delicate floral nuances. In the background, tertiary notes of acacia honey and brioche develop, rounding out the wine beautifully.
Medot Brut 48 Magnum Reserve Selection (special edition)
This version appears more mature and complex. The aromatic profile is deeper, with more pronounced tertiary notes of bread crust. The fruit profile evolves towars riper shades of orange, intertwined with hints of amaretto, acacia honey, and a subtle touch of lemon zest that lends the wine an elegant, refreshing contrast.

Both interpretations draw from the same philosophy — respect for time and patience — yet time guides them toward slightly different expressions.
Medot Brut 48 Magnum Reserve Selection was not created as a planned product, but as an answer to a question: what happens if we give the wine even more time?
And sometimes, it is precisely time that makes all the difference.
